Mr Kim Jong Un or the succession issue in official Chinese and North Korean reports.

Mr Kim’s last trip (his first foray abroad in four years). China has refused to accept the findings. By rolling out the red carpet again, it showed it has no plans to reconsider.China has complained loudly about America’s recent muscle-flexing, particularly its joint military exercises with South Korea. These are due to resume on September 5th with drills in the Yellow Sea, which China regards as uncomfortably close to its own shore. China began its own naval exercises in the Yellow Sea on September 1st. The official news agency, Xinhua, called them "routine", but a decision to draw attention to them could be intended to show resolve in the face of the American and South Korean manoeuvres. The results of an international investigation into the sinking of the South Korean ship, which blamed it on North Korea, were released after

Less clear is why Mr Kim wanted to go back so soon. Much speculation has suggested that it could be related to the forthcoming party conclave, the first on such a scale since 1980. North Korea says it will be held early in September. One popular theory is that Mr Kim wants the gathering to endorse the appointment of his son, Kim Jong Un, to a senior party post. The idea would be to groom him to succeed his father, whose health has not been robust. The younger Mr Kim is in his late twenties and is believed to be jobless. Rumours of his rise as heir apparent have long been circulating, and it is plausible that his father would want to inform China if confirmation of this is imminent.

The Asian secret to strong, lush hair

If you think the art of luxurious hair comes from the world's top fashion cities like Paris and Milan, you're incorrect. You might be surprised to discover the best methods for adding volume, thickness and shine come from Asian cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul. The Asian obsession with luxurious hair might be attributed to the average Asian hair strand being 5 times thicker than the average Western strand. With thicker hair, there is higher demand for products that provide fluid movement and manageability.

Star Wars - The Clone Wars (PG)

RY December 31, people across the world gather to pray that there will be world peace.
And that there will be no more Star Wars movies to bore non-believers witless.
Judging by the way this violent animation has appeared in the week that Russia has taken on Georgia, world peace is an inter-galactic pipe dream.
And so is the thought that the now 62-year-old George Lucas will ever stop milking his cash cows.
The man who dug up Indiana's Bones in May has executively produced this Star Wars' spin-off too.
It's very much Saturday morning stuff in appearance and, rather like The Simpsons, something of a TV movie in disguise (a small screen series is set to follow).
What saves The Clone Wars is that it's got a fair bit of pace - something that was sadly lacking in the three prequels - and the action sequences look in tune with the previous movies' models.

Nun's death rallies anti-immigration forces

In Arizona, the shooting death of a rancher blew the lid off simmering anger over border security and helped solidify support for a tough new immigration law. A similar eruption threatens in Virginia following the death of a Catholic nun in a car accident involving a man in the country illegally and accused of drunken driving.
The Benedictine Sisters of Virginia tried to discourage using the death of Sister Denise Mosier as a "forum of the illegal immigration agenda" and pleaded for a focus on "Christ's command to forgive."
"The sisters' mission is peace and love," said Corey Stewart, chairman of Prince William County's Board of Supervisors. "My mission is law enforcement and the protection of public safety."
Prince William County, about 25 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., stepped up its immigration enforcement in 2007 amid explosive growth of its Hispanic and immigrant populations. Under Stewart's leadership, the county implemented a local policy requiring police to determine the immigration status of all people arrested on suspicion of violating state or local laws.

Barack Obama Hosts Iftaar Party Held at State Dinner Room of White House

Barack Obama, US President hosts ‘iftaar’ party at White House. "Here at the White House, we have a tradition of hosting iftaars that goes back several years, just as we host Christmas parties, seders and Diwali celebrations," Obama said in his remarks at the Iftaar party held at the State Dinner room of the White House last night.ht.Sitting in his audience was Indian Ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar, one of the few non-Muslim diplomats attending the Iftaar.
"These events celebrate the role of faith in the lives of the American people. They remind us of the basic truth that we are all children of God, and we all draw strength and a sense of purpose from our beliefs," Obama said.
"In my inaugural address, I said that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth," Obama said.
That diversity can bring difficult debates, he said, adding that indeed, past eras have seen controversies about the construction of synagogues or Catholic churches.
"But time and again, the American people have demonstrated that we can work through these issues, stay true to our core values, and emerge stronger for it. So it must be – and will be – today," Obama said.
Ramadan, he said, is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America.
The first Muslim ambassador to the United States, from Tunisia, was hosted by President Jefferson, who arranged a sunset dinner for his guest because it was Ramadan, making it the first known iftaar at the White House, more than 200 years ago, he noted.
Like so many other immigrants, generations of Muslims came here to forge their future. They became farmers and merchants, worked in mills and factories, and helped lay the railroads.
"They helped build America. They founded the first Islamic centre in New York City in the 1890s. They built America’s first mosque on the prairie of North Dakota. And perhaps the oldest surviving mosque in America — still in use today — is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa," Obama said.

sara gilbert for life

For years Sara Gilbert sidestepped direct questions about her sexuality. But at a Television Critics Association press conferences Wednesday in Los Angeles, the Roseanne actress quietly admitted that she was a lesbian.

Gilbert was on hand to promote her new chat-fest, The Talk, that she is set to co-host with fellow moms, Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne, and Marissa Jaret Winokur, and addressed her sexuality when asked if she thought it was going to be comfortable being "out."

“This is a whole new world for me,” the 35-year-old admitted. “I’m not an expert on this, or I don’t analyze these things. I’m just sort of living my life. I plan to put my heart and soul into this show, and I plan to continue acting, and I don’t think it will be a problem.”

“I don’t ever really think of things as out or in,” Gilbert added. “I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that ar

yoko one singer

Earlier this month, the reigning queen of pop music crossed one threshold and appeared headed over another. Her feats were noted on Wired.com with this snarky headline: "Sign of the Apocalypse: Lady Gaga heads for 10 million Facebook fans."That 10 million mark, Wired reported, has been crossed only twice: by the late Michael Jackson (14 million) and by the online game "Texas Hold ’Em Poker" (20 million). So Gaga would be the first living person to crack 10 million. And, by the way, the living person she passed on her way to social-networking history was President Barack Obama (9.4 million).
The writers at Wired aren’t the only ones dubious about her profuse popularity and what it signifies. If Gaga is second to anyone at anything in our pop culture, it is only to Sarah Palin in the "why are you famous?" department. When I told a friend I was writing about her, he texted back: "Can the headline be, ‘The face of what’s wrong with the music industry/America?’ "
